A grant total of $2.5 million was awarded to legitimate non-profit institutions in New York City. The financial support given by New York Life Foundation aims to enhance and strengthen the designed programs of the organizations to assist the youth at their respective areas during critical time. The foundation has seen great efforts from these organizations in providing the local youths safe havens, decisive resources, and all-inclusive education.
The Girl Scout Council of Greater New York received the $600,000 monetary assistance for its career exploration program, which helps prepare low-income girls from diverse backgrounds for higher education. To help the Citizen Schools expand its learning time initiative, a total of $400,000 was allocated to them. With its objective to support afterschool program in three Bronx middle schools, $375,000 was earmarked to Good Shepherd Services.
Other recipients include iMentor, which was awarded $200,000 to enroll eighty Bronx Preparatory Charter School students in its high school-to-college-transition mentoring program. Esperanza, meanwhile, received $100,000 to provide youth on probation with encouragement and support through its education initiative. Children for Children, enjoyed $25,000 to help re-integrate youth that have been released from juvenile detention into the community.
Hence, New York Life Foundation President, Chris Parker, is delighted to provide much-needed funds to these different deserving organizations that support local children.
