Grant Program Description
Established in 1948, The San Francisco Foundation is the community foundation of the Bay Area in San Francisco, California. Through grantmaking and engaged partnerships, the Foundation work with nonprofit organizations, community residents, local government agencies, and generous donors to improve the quality of life in the Bay Area. Its mission is to mobilize resources and act as a catalyst for change to build strong communities, foster civic leadership, and promote philanthropy.

Eligibility Requirements
The Foundation only makes grants to organizations with 501(c)(3) tax status or to government entities. A fiscal sponsor is necessary for organizations, which do not have tax-exempt status.

Funding Deadline
Timelines and deadlines vary per year.

Geographic Focus
Projects must benefit residents in at least one of the five Bay Area counties served by the Foundation, namely: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo.

Range
Average competitive grant is approximately $22,000 with duration of 12 months.
